Berceuse — The Queen & Her Royal Companion
A poetic sculptural pair inspired by the quiet elegance of an old European music salon.
At the centre of the composition sits the Queen, crowned and poised within her sculptural laurel wreath. Beside her stands her devoted companion — part guardian, part confidant, and perhaps something more.
Both doves have been individually handcrafted using paper, cotton and mixed media, then carefully layered, textured and painted by hand. Soft ivory, stone and warm antique tones are built up with an aged patina, allowing the character of the handmade surface to remain visible.
Vintage-style musical notation appears as a recurring detail throughout the pair, linking the pieces to the atmosphere of an antique music folio and to the title Berceuse.
The Queen wears a delicate handmade crown and a soft ruffled collar. Her companion is finished with musical-note ribbon, a feathered detail and his own theatrical ruff.
Designed to be displayed together, the two pieces form a quiet narrative of loyalty, companionship and gentle mystery.
Each piece is entirely handmade, so small irregularities, texture and variations in the aged finish are part of its individual character.
