THE MUSHROOM SONATAA Set of Five Musical Mushrooms

A little woodland composition where music appears to have taken root.

This one-of-a-kind set consists of five handcrafted mushrooms arranged as two individual sculptural groups — one with two mushrooms and the other with three.

Each piece has been created by hand in my studio using my signature mixed-media technique. Their softly aged ivory surfaces are layered with fragments of vintage-style sheet music, delicate pearl-like details and subtle textural elements, giving them the appearance of small treasures discovered in an old forgotten cabinet of curiosities.

The slender stems are finished with softly frayed fabric collars, while pale preserved moss and tiny translucent details gather around their bases, adding to their wonderfully timeworn woodland character.

No two mushrooms are identical. Their irregular forms, distressed surfaces and individual markings are all part of the handmade nature of the work.

Designed to be displayed together, the two groups create a gentle rhythm of different heights and forms — almost like a tiny woodland ensemble caught somewhere between nature, music and memory.
