THE HARE RHAPSODY

A One-of-a-Kind Musical Hare

A quiet woodland character, caught somewhere between music, movement and imagination.

The Hare Rhapsody is a one-of-a-kind sculptural hare, entirely handcrafted in my studio using my signature mixed-media technique.

His elongated, reclining form has been individually shaped and finished in softly aged ivory tones, allowing the subtle irregularities and traces of the handmade process to remain part of his character.

Around his neck sits an oversized bow created from vintage-style sheet music, with long musical ribbons flowing across and around his body. The aged notation introduces a sense of movement, as though fragments of an old melody have become entwined with the sculpture itself.

His expressive face, gently asymmetric ears and softly distressed surface give him an individual personality, elegant, slightly whimsical and quietly contemplative rather than traditionally decorative.

The pale ivory finish is intentionally imperfect, with delicate tonal variations and subtle traces of age that give the piece the feeling of an object discovered rather than newly made.

At approximately 55 cm in length, The Hare Rhapsody has a strong sculptural presence and works beautifully as a focal piece on a console, large table, cabinet or within a collected interior.

Created as part of my music-inspired body of work, he brings together the natural world and fragments of an imagined old score, a solitary woodland figure wrapped in music.
