THE MUSHROOM NOCTURNE A Set of Five Musical Mushrooms

A quiet woodland composition shaped by music, texture and time.

This one-of-a-kind set consists of five handcrafted sculptural mushrooms, a group of four arranged together on one base, accompanied by a single tall mushroom on its own individual base.

Each mushroom has been created by hand in my studio using my signature mixed-media technique. Their softly aged ivory surfaces are layered with fragments of vintage-style sheet music, delicate pearl-like details and subtle textural elements, creating the impression of curious little treasures discovered in an old cabinet of curiosities.

The slender, irregular stems and softly frayed fabric collars give each mushroom its own character, while pale woodland textures and tiny translucent details gather around the bases like traces of an imagined forest floor.

Fragments of musical notation appear across the caps, connecting the individual forms like notes within a small, silent composition.

No two mushrooms are identical. Their uneven silhouettes, distressed surfaces, subtle colour variations and individual markings are all intentional parts of the handmade nature of the work.

The two pieces can be displayed together as a sculptural arrangement or separated within an interior.
